The Ministry of Education is launching a new large-scale career guidance project “University Holidays”, which will allow students of the 10th and 11th grades to fully immerse themselves in student life during the autumn holidays. Unlike the usual open days, high school students will be able to attend real lectures and couples, perform practical tasks and undergo internships at the enterprises of future employers, the head of the main department of professional education of the Ministry of Education Sergey Pischov told reporters.

Students are offered to participate in events that are held on the basis of universities, Sergey Pischov shares details:
- The project is primarily aimed at students in grades 10–11. These are just those students who already need to make an informed choice and determine their specialty. This event is called in different universities in different ways: somewhere “Student for one day”, somewhere “One day in the life of a student”, and some universities conduct longer-term projects – for example, “Student for a week”.
The main difference between such holidays and the classic open day is the interactivity and deep immersion of applicants in those processes that they will face literally in a short time, entering the university, the speaker emphasizes:
- The main task that we help to solve high school students is to determine the future profession. This is an important common goal for the children themselves, for enterprises and for universities. The choice that entrants will make today will allow them in the future not only to successfully master the educational program, but also to successfully find a job, get a first job and grow professionally.
Therefore, the format of meetings was chosen non-standard. These are master classes, round tables and immersion in the profession: not just studying disciplines, but also performing individual tasks. This is very important, because you can look at the specialty from the other side, which also affects the awareness of choice.
Of course, an important aspect is familiarity with the future student life. Students will attend lectures and practical classes, get acquainted with the infrastructure of universities to try on the role of a student and feel all its advantages. To visit not at the lesson, but at a couple, to listen to a professor or a leading specialist who will introduce him to the specialty - all this will strengthen the career guidance work that our universities actively conduct in classical forms.
In addition to studying, students will get acquainted with other areas of activity: the sports life of universities, their information resources
- It should also be added that the organization-customers of personnel are actively involved in the “University Holidays”. For children, excursions to enterprises are organized, and leading specialists will be invited to conduct classes. I am sure that this event will be very useful. Universities will show their capabilities, and applicants will be able to communicate on equal terms with students and teachers, with their peers and future colleagues. This live communication will increase the motivation of children and help them choose the direction in which they will connect their lives.
Registration and detailed information are already posted on the resources of universities. Each university has its own characteristics. Belarusian colleges launch republican competition “Student of the Year – 2026”
