The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation will introduce a new mandatory subject “Artificial Intelligence and Information Security”. This was reported by Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov. Training will cover students from the 5th to the 11th grades of all schools in the country.
We have decided that from the second quarter a new course on Artificial Intelligence and Information Security will be tested. And from next September, the next academic year, for all schools from the 5th to the 11th grade, there will be a mandatory course “Artificial Intelligence and Information Security”, Kravtsov said at the plenary session of the forum “Digital Days of Innopolis”.
The Minister made this statement at the plenary session “Artificial intelligence for a breakthrough in education and science”. First, the new subject will be tested in the second quarter of this year. Then, from September next year, it will become mandatory for all middle and high school students. Schools will have to include this program in their curriculum.
The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation regularly updates school programs. Digital literacy is becoming a key area in the education system. Artificial intelligence actively penetrates into various spheres of life. Information security skills are necessary to protect personal data online. Schools have already introduced lessons on the basics of cybersecurity and programming.
