A baby with a screwdriver in his stomach was in a Russian hospital

In the Balakovsk city clinical hospital of the Saratov region brought an infant. The kid swallowed a metal bat from a screwdriver. This was reported in the medical facility.

The parents went to the reception room on time. X-rays showed a heavy object stuck in the intestine. Given the age of the child, the surgeons refused emergency surgery. They chose wait-and-see tactics and left the baby under surveillance.

As a result, part of the screwdriver came out naturally. The hospital said that the intestinal walls remained intact, there is no perforation. The baby feels fine.

Doctors stressed that if the parents decided to wait, the outcome could be much more serious. Timely treatment helped to avoid dangerous consequences.

In Primorsky Krai, doctors of the Dalnegorsk hospital rescued a four-year-old girl who swallowed a battery. The foreign object was removed from the stomach using gastroscopy and biopsy forceps, after which the child was released home.
