Fraudsters in the suburbs scare “digital power of attorney” and lure codes from SMS
In the Moscow region, a new scheme of fraudsters is gaining momentum – with an allegedly issued “digital power of attorney”
The victim receives a message in the messenger or mail. The sender appears as an employee of the Social Fund, tax or Central Bank and informs: a digital power of attorney was issued in your name, it must be urgently canceled. For this, leave the number "specialist". When you call, a person is lured from the code from the SMS, and then persuaded to transfer the money to a “safe account”.
Having received the code, criminals get into public services, banking applications and other personal accounts. The result is empty bills and loans issued in your name.
Experts advise: do not call the numbers from the messages, and just delete suspicious letters. Government agencies do not write in messengers and do not ask for codes from SMS. If you are worried about documents, find the official number of the department on the website and call yourself.
