Investigators from Mozyr establish circumstances of telephone fraud against several Belarusians. It began with the fact that on August 22 on the mobile phone of a 21-year-old resident of Bobruisk received a call allegedly from a representative of the company to replace the intercom. According to the classic scheme of deception, the interlocutor asked for an SMS code. What happened next, on the air of the program “Causes and Effect” on “Radio-Minsk” said the official representative of the Investigative Committee Alexander Sukhodolsky.
"Cause and effect"
This time, the fraudsters played a modified scenario to lure money. A young man in Viber was contacted by a certain “fraud officer from BelHES”, who reported hacking into a personal account in a mobile application, installing wiretaps, and stealing electronic copies of a passport, signature, checking account, income certificate and real estate. After that, there were imaginary switches to allegedly employees of the Minsk police department, the FSB and the non-existent BelHPP.
As a result of such massive processing, Bobruychan believed everything that strangers told him from the phone. So, fraudsters issued a loan in his name for 3,000 rubles. He tried to get three microloans. In addition, to get “help from the FSB”, the scammers told the guy that he needed to gain the trust of the special services and work as a collector.
As a result, the young man wrote non-disclosure and employment statements, photographed them and sent them to the curators in the messenger. Already on August 25, he completed the first tasks: he arrived in Minsk, went to two addresses to elderly women and received envelopes with money from them, and then took them to a colleague in Moscow.
Another order led him to Mozyr - the residence of the next victim of fraud - a 56-year-old man. Under the pressure of fraudsters, the Mozyryan intended to refute the connection with a foreign terrorist by cooperating with “state agencies”. After persistent calls from pseudo-employees from BelHES, KGC, Investigative Committee, he agreed to transfer 15,000 euros and 11,900 dollars to an employee of the cash settlement center for declaration and legalization.
The FSB collector from Bobruisk took money from the Mozyryan and took it to Moscow. After returning home, on the instructions of the curator, he went to the Citizenship and Migration Department to issue a replacement passport, where he was detained by police officers.
The Mozyr district department of the Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code (fraud on an especially large scale). An investigation is under way.
