Motorcycles under the guise of mopeds: Gora voiced revealed violations in the field of transport security

In Belarus, according to the results of the prosecutor's inspection, the sale of 71 names of components of vehicles is prohibited. This was stated today, October 7, the Prosecutor General of Belarus Dmitry Gora during a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, at which parliamentarians heard information from the Prosecutor General on the results of their activities.

The Prosecutor General told parliamentarians that in 2025 the prosecutor’s office checked the implementation of the legislation on the safety of transport activities. It turned out that the number of accidents in the republic, as well as those killed and injured in them, decreased, he noted:

- At the same time, in all regions, shortcomings in the current maintenance of roads were revealed. These are primarily critical defects of the roadway, understatement of the roadside relative to the level of the adjacent edge of the carriageway, damage to markings and road signs. Pre-trip control over the technical condition of vehicles of road management organizations was not properly established. More than 2 thousand cases of participation in road traffic of transport without the appropriate permit have been established. Some enterprises did not establish proper accounting of accidents, did not conduct a detailed analysis of the causes and conditions that contributed to the accidents.

Over the past year and a half, prosecutors have studied more than 220,000 cases of administrative offences, including almost 50,000 cases involving the traffic police. At the same time, 10.5 thousand orders were canceled. In order to prevent injury and death of citizens on the roads, a number of drivers, according to the requirements of prosecutors, were brought to stricter responsibility for non-compliance with the speed limit, the Prosecutor General said. Other measures have been taken to ensure road safety. Thus, the facts of sale of mopeds were found, the maximum speed of which was 90 km / h instead of the permissible 50 km / h.

In fact, under the guise of mopeds, vehicles were sold that were related to motorcycles by engine power, which posed a potential threat to road safety. Following the results of the prosecutor’s inspection, the State Committee for Standardization banned the sale of 71 names of vehicle components and limited the sale of such products, said Dmitry Gora.
