The author of the mosaic “Sower” on the facade of the former church in the village of Zelenopolje was the German artist Fritz Burmann. He created the work in 1930. This was reported in the community “Heritage of walls”.
The name of the artist and the date of creation of the mosaic were established thanks to archival documents found in Germany by the author of the project Evgeny Mosienko. Among them is a letter with a sketch of the future work of May 12, 1930 and a document for 1941, which mentions the name of the mosaic and the year of its creation.
The authors of the project also suggest that the master of Berlin mosaic workshop Wiegmann could be involved in the manufacture of smalt. This is stated in one of the found letters.
Fritz Burmann was a professor at the Königsberg Academy of Arts, engaged in monumental painting and the creation of stained glass windows.
Earlier we wrote that books about the Second World War were transferred to the library of the Kaliningrad Museum.
