In Borovichi, a 49-year-old woman accused of knowingly false reporting a serious crime will appear before the court. The materials of the criminal case were sent to the court, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Novgorod region reported.

According to the investigation, the conflict between the woman and her friend occurred in October 2026. The reason was that the man went to the police because of the disappearance of his dog. Experiencing resentment, the woman decided to take revenge: she came to the investigation department and said that the man allegedly raped her. At the same time, she was warned in advance of criminal liability for false denunciation.

Checks showed the woman was lying. Later, the accused admitted that she gave false testimony, and explained her act with a sense of resentment and a desire for revenge. The woman will stand trial. She faces a hefty fine, forced labor or up to three years in prison.
