The man told about the experience of an extremely dangerous disease, which he initially took for hemorrhoids
James Lamont, 43, nearly died after confusing the first signs of a severe infection with a common hemorrhoid

A 43-year-old resident of Scotland, James Lamont, almost died after confusing the first signs of a severe infection with ordinary hemorrhoids. The man for several weeks tried to get rid of the painful swelling on his own, unaware that the disease is rapidly destroying the tissues of his body. He shared his story with the Mirror.
The first alarming symptoms appeared in November 2025. In addition to education in the buttocks, the Scotsman was tormented by vomiting after almost every meal. For about three weeks he used various ointments, until one day he found a strong swelling of the scrotum, which acquired a purple hue. Due to the increased size of the affected area, the man could hardly walk and called an ambulance.
At the hospital, doctors diagnosed Lamont with necrotic fasciitis - a dangerous bacterial infection that causes rapid destruction of soft tissues. The disease was complicated by Fournier gangrene and sepsis. The patient was urgently operated on, after which he was immersed in an artificial coma for four days. Subsequently, he required long-term treatment and restoration of damaged tissues.
In total, the Scotsman underwent 11 surgical interventions, including a stoma installation. The infection destroyed a significant part of the tissues in the groin and scrotum, so doctors had to carry out reconstructive operations. After surviving the ordeal, Lamont urged people not to ignore unusual symptoms and seek medical attention in a timely manner, as even a slight swelling can be a sign of a life-threatening disease.
The death toll from the dangerous disease has reached record levels.
Not only pain behind the sternum: the cardiologist warned of atypical symptoms of a heart attack.
