NAO Governor Irina Gekht reported on the results of air measurements conducted by the laboratory from St. Petersburg. Specialists arrived in the area at the end of last week.
Measurements were carried out at 12 points in the city and at the landfill, including six at the border of residential development. At these six sites, no excesses were found on the studied indicators. The content of ammonia, benzene, sulfur dioxide, methane, carbon monoxide, suspended substances, hydrogen sulfide and nitrogen oxides were checked.
Separately, the head of the region told about the situation at the site itself. There is no open burning or smoke on Monday morning. During the past week, three excavators worked here during the day, one at night. The extinguishing was attended by employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, city and district services, specialists from the village of Seekers and volunteers.
Today, rescuers are examining the area with a thermal imager to check whether foci remain inside the waste. As a result, the Commission will determine further action. A preventive spill is planned to prevent repeated fires.
