Residents of the Sakhalin region were urged to refrain from resting on the wild coasts because of the risk of encountering bears. This was reported in the Agency of forestry and hunting of the region.
Hunters noted that such areas are the natural habitat of predators. Now bears have an oily period before hibernation, while due to the lack of natural food, they are actively looking for food, including on the sea coast.
Earlier in social networks there was a video from Cape Simau, where a bear and two bear cub approached the camp of tourists. The animals did not react to noise, tore the tent, and one of the men had to hide on the roof of the car.
Experts stressed that the absence of food waste does not guarantee safety: the smell of fish could be preserved on gear, boat, clothing and other items. In case of bears near the camp, tourists are advised to leave the resting place and take into account the risks when traveling to the wild coasts.
