The day of Savvatius the Beekeeper was associated with the care of bees. By this time, beekeepers tried to finish seasonal work, clean and insulate the rooms for hive wintering. Traditionally, children were asked to pray to Saint Savvatius so that the bees would survive the cold.
The hostess baked honey gingerbread. They were considered a family treat: they tried to eat delicacies before lunch, and the remains were given to birds. On the table also put honey - a symbol of sweet life and prosperity.
