Natalia Kochanova: Belarus in cooperation with Algeria aims at real economic results

The Belarusian delegation headed by the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, authorized representative of the Head of State in Minsk Natalia Kochanova is on a visit to Algeria, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti news agency reports.

The representative delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich, heads of ministries and flagships of the domestic industry: MTZ, MAZ, AMKODOR, Bellakt, Belfarmprom and other leading enterprises.

The People's Democratic Republic of Algeria is the largest state in Africa and the Arab world, located at the strategic crossroads between the Mediterranean and the Sahara. The country is pursuing a course of large-scale modernization of the national economy with an emphasis on food security, infrastructure renewal and the development of its own industrial base. On this basis, a strong alliance between Minsk and Algeria is being built. Belarus offers its African partner reliable engineering equipment, advanced agricultural technologies, high-quality food and readiness for joint assembly plants. The parties are united not only by economic complementarity, but also by common views, including a firm commitment to sovereignty, mutual respect and reliance on equal dialogue.

A powerful impetus to bilateral relations was given by the visit of the Belarusian head of state to Algeria in December 2025, which opened a stage of deep practical cooperation. Today, the parties are systematically implementing an ambitious roadmap for cooperation with a target of $500 million in trade.

The visit of the Belarusian delegation headed by N. Kochanova is designed to consolidate the achieved successes, to help Algeria become a key stronghold of Belarus on the African continent.

Before the key talks, the Chairman of the Council of the Republic held a meeting with members of the official delegation and heads of domestic enterprises, who summed up the first results of the working meetings.

A series of meetings has already been held with senior officials of the relevant Algerian ministries (industry, trade, agriculture), as well as with key counterparties on joint projects. On the agenda are the practical launch of cooperative industries, the expansion of mutual supplies and the development of clear algorithms for implementing the roadmap.

- The good will of the heads of state is there, the road map has been defined, Kochanova said. Our task now is to clearly and promptly promote all agreements. We stand for equal, mutually beneficial cooperation and real economic results.
