Users note that GPS trackers and navigator apps have begun to work incorrectly: coordinates “fly away” to the side, and voice prompts are given incorrectly. This situation can lead to an accident or run into a dead end.
The reasons for the failure have not yet been officially confirmed.
All major satellite navigation systems, including GPS, GLONASS and Galileo, are equally vulnerable to interference. This is because satellite signals are received by weak smartphone antennas, making them prone to spoofing – transmitting false navigation signals. When the signal is changed or distorted, the device begins to detect incorrect coordinates and transmits erroneous data to all geolocation-dependent services.
