Not for the sake of records, but for the sake of unity: a youth race was held in Victory Park

The youth race “To the heights of new victories” was held on September 18 in Victory Park. It gathered about 300 participants under the age of 31, reports the correspondent of the agency “Minsk-Novosti”.

Young specialists and students of the Central District came to the distance. Among them are employees of such enterprises as Belavia, Milavitsa, Belinvestbank, Priorbank, representatives of the hotel sector, students of the Belarusian State Academy of Music and the Belarusian State University of Physical Culture. The safety of participants and escort along the entire route from the start to the finish line were provided by specialists of the regional sports and health center.

- The event was conceived not as a sports competition, but as a unifying event in honor of the Day of National Unity, designed to remind the younger generation of the value of common history and cohesion, said Elena Drobysh, Deputy Chairman of the Central District Organization of Belaya Rus.

Participation in the race was taken by a freshman of BSUFC Milena Adartsevich:

- I always try something in life that I have never done before. The distance of five kilometers has never been overcome. My main sport is swimming. Therefore, I was preparing for today’s start seriously: for two weeks in a row I went out for jogging every evening. My previous record was three kilometers, so today is a full debut. The mood is excellent, I want to test my strength and get vivid emotions.

With the same cheerful attitude, the leading engineer of the engineering department of the aviation and technical base of Belavia Airlines, 31-year-old Dmitry Murlenko, also went to the start.

- It’s great to see the active lifestyle in our country becoming more and more popular! I want to support the sports movement by example. Even after a mild cold, I decided not to miss the race. This is the best way to temper, improve and recharge positive. Of course, excitement pushes you to run first, but the main thing in such events is cohesion, health and vivid emotions, the young man shared.
