Domestic violence has long been a topic not spoken of. However, attempts to hide the family conflict and not to seek help can lead to serious consequences, especially if children witness what is happening.

First Deputy Chief of the Leninsky Internal Affairs Directorate of Minsk, Chief of the Public Security Police Igor Kachuk reminded about the system of measures aimed at protecting those who are in trouble:
- One such measure is a protective order. It is taken to a citizen who committed violence in order to immediately stop illegal actions and create safe conditions for the victim. The order establishes temporary prohibitions for the aggressor. He may be forbidden to approach the victim, call him, send messages, come to the place of residence. The validity period of the document is from three to 30 days.
For police officers, prevention of conflict situations in the family is a daily task. Special attention is paid to addresses where scandals have already occurred. More than once, the timely intervention of the Interior Ministry employees saved the lives and health of the victims, Igor Kachuk cites a case from practice:
- Once a man in a state of alcoholic intoxication made a scandal because of a sudden outburst of jealousy: he did not like that the neighbor greeted his wife on the landing and smiled at her. Debashir began insulting his wife, then grabbed the leg of the chair and tried to hit her. Children have witnessed the conflict. The daughter was not confused and called the police on her own. The officers conducted an inspection and opened a criminal case.
The police remind: if you are faced with violence or know that someone close to you is in danger, be sure to seek help. Call 102, contact the operational duty service of the police department or the district inspector. Reception of citizens takes place in public police stations on Wednesdays from 17:00 to 20:00.
