In Moscow opened the mural for the 100th anniversary of the birth of Evgeny Evstigneev. In the ceremony, together with the People's Artist of Russia, the artistic director of the Sovremennik Theater Vladimir Mashkov, the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin took part.
Mural appeared on Chistoprudny Boulevard, next to the “Contemporary”, at the origins of which stood Evstigneev: in 1956 he, together with Oleg Efremov, Galina Volchek, Igor Kvasha, Lilia Tolmacheva and other young artists created a new theater. The project united Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod, the actor’s hometown. It was implemented on the initiative of the theater together with the Nizhny Novgorod community with the support of the regional government, the author was the art group ZUKCLUB - artists Sergey Ovseikin and Ivan Astro.
Governor Gleb Nikitin noted that Evstigneeva knew and loved the whole country, and in the theater, and in cinema, and on television he remained recognizable, original, real. He expressed hope that the mural will become not just a memorable sign for the anniversary, but a point of attraction - an occasion to review your favorite films and open new roles of the actor, so that young people are proud of the country, and Nizhny Novgorod residents - their great countrymen.
Vladimir Mashkov recalled that on the day of the 100th anniversary of Evstigneev, several events were dedicated to him at once: in the morning a memorial plaque was opened on the house on Nikitsky Boulevard, where he lived, in the afternoon a mural appeared next to the “Contemporary”, connecting Nizhny Novgorod and the theater he created, and in the evening an evening performance “Eustigenius” will take place on the stage. It is important for the theater that the memory of the actor lives in the city, in the theater and in today’s audience.
With Nizhny Novgorod, Evstigneev has a special place in the biography: his childhood and youth passed here, the path to the profession began here.
