New Year holidays 2026-2027 again postponed: how now we will rest – the exact schedule

The government of the Russian Federation by resolution No. 1187 of September 17, 2026 finally fixed the production calendar for the next year. The main news for employees on the five-day holiday is the long and continuous New Year holidays.

To provide citizens with maximum comfort, officials used an effective mechanism to postpone the weekend. Saturdays, which according to the calendar fell on January 2 and 3, 2027, decided to shift to other dates: January 2 was postponed to November 5, and January 3 – to December 31, 2026.

Thanks to this decision, the official rest starts on December 31, 2026 and will last without interruptions until January 10, 2027 inclusive. Return to work weekdays will have only on Monday, January 11.

But the New Year holidays are not the only nice bonus. Fans of long weekends in 2027 will enjoy other holiday blocks:

February 21-23: Saturday of the 20th is postponed to Monday, giving three days off in a row to Defender of the Fatherland Day.

March 6-8: traditional spring weekend by March 8.

• May 1-3: rest for the Festival of Spring and Labor.

May 8-10: a long weekend for Victory Day.

• June 12-14: rest on the Day of Russia.

4-7 November: four days of rest in honor of National Unity Day.

A separate gift was prepared by the authorities at the very end of 2027: December 31 is officially fixed as a non-working day.

In general, the balance of the year looks very optimistic: Russians are waiting for 247 working days and as many as 118 days of rest and holidays. It’s time to book tickets and plan family trips based on an approved schedule!
