New schemes of fraudsters: in the course went “gateways”

In the Moscow region, scammers have intensified, using a new scheme of deception based on invented banking rules. Attackers are frightening citizens by blocking cards and losing access to savings to lure their codes from SMS messages.

According to experts, fraudsters are presented as employees of a non-existent “financial control service”. During the conversation, they convince the victim of the need to connect a fictional “interbank gateway”. To do this, scammers ask them to give them a code from SMS. Having received the coveted numbers, attackers gain access to the victim’s mobile bank and steal money from accounts.

Experts strongly recommend that residents of the region immediately end such conversations. To check any information about the status of the account or card, you must call only the official bank number indicated on the back of the card or on the website of the financial institution.
