The head of the Leningrad region Alexander Drozdenko said that on October 7, the first meeting of the Legislative Assembly of the eighth convocation was held. The key tasks of the new composition were to work in difficult economic conditions, implement national projects and solve the problem of demographic decline. Sergei Bebenin was unanimously elected Speaker of Parliament. His words are transmitted by IVBG.ru.
Drozdenko noted that the elections significantly renewed the deputy corps – half of the parliamentarians were elected for the first time. In his opinion, this combination helps to preserve experience and bring new approaches. The team has already been formed, and each deputy, having passed the election campaign, is responsible to the residents.
The parliament included participants and veterans of the special operation, as well as workers in education, medicine, sports, local government, entrepreneurs, representatives of industry, agro-industrial complex and NGOs.
Among the priorities Drozdenko called the activity in the context of economic challenges: it is necessary to coordinate goals with real resources. He also highlighted the implementation of national projects and the fight against demographic decline. The Governor reminded that the Leningrad region is in the top 10 regions in terms of positive demographic dynamics, including birth rate, and urged to respond quickly to changes in order to keep this trend. The budget of the region will retain its social orientation.
In the end, the governor formulated the basic principle of work: any decision should be first discussed, then adopted and announced, and then be sure to check how it is implemented.
