On October 9, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took part in the CIS summit in Turkmenistan. The agenda of the meeting included more than fifteen issues, including social development, quality of life, transport connectivity of the CIS countries, joint work in the information space, cooperation in law enforcement and preservation of historical memory.
- Let me remind you that a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth countries was also held in Turkmenistan the day before. That is, the platform was prepared, important topics were discussed. Watching the news: the NATO military Committee for some reason secretly going to Kiev And normal people, if there are security issues, come together to discuss them. But, of course, the issues are not only these, — said the columnist of the newspaper “SB Belarus today” Lyudmila Gladka. Grigory Azarenok, a political columnist for STV, in turn, stressed:
- It became clear that it is possible to ensure economic, power and information security and development only together. In the late 1980s, we were told that we should go to our national apartments and not give a damn about unions. But true independence can only be achieved in the context of large alliances. We have such experience and competences: for example, Belarus has an assembly shop, some countries supply raw materials, others provide science and technology. And if we collect and multiply all our knowledge and competencies, then we will have both a market and an economy.

The Belarusian head of state has always advocated integration
Alexander Lukashenko is a man of union, a man of integration and unification. I am sure that he will continue to promote this agenda.
Grigory Azarenok also mentioned the countries that left the Commonwealth:
- We created the CIS after the collapse of the USSR. Ukraine withdrew from the Commonwealth — now in this country tragedy, blood, war. Georgia left the CIS, went through war, economic decline and is now returning to different formats of interaction with us. Why beat pots, throw stones, throw allies? The West won't do anything good. I hope everyone understands that.
Yevgeny Gorin, a political commentator on the First Information TV channel, drew attention to the importance of Turkmenistan, which this year chairs the CIS:
Turkmenistan is also a very important transit point. Now the so-called North-South route is being built, along which transits go further to Asia. That is, this is a very serious point for building a North-South transit corridor. Of course, Belarus is also discussing the creation of new transit routes and territories where the SCO and CIS countries will be able to intersect and work together. All this, as they say, is a bundle of one economy, including one policy.
