The updated Kalinkovichi Museum of Local Lore was opened during Dazhynak-2026

A new place of residence was acquired by the Kalinkovichi Museum of Local Lore. The object was inaugurated today, October 10, during the regional festival-fair "Dazhynki-2026". The exposition area of the museum has doubled, today viewers can see the real pearls of the collection.

The renovated museum is located in the former building of the district library. The participants of the grand opening were greeted by heroes of local history. The first settler Kalenik once came to these lands with centuries-old oak trees and pine forests and decided to stay. From him, according to legend, and went all the next generations – Kalenković. Brave railwayman told about the XIX century, when the Polesie railway passed through the territory of the district gave a powerful impetus to the growth and prosperity of these territories. Yesterday’s schoolchildren, who became underground heroes, talked about how they did not spare their lives, defending their land from the German fascist invaders.

About all the milestones of the history of the region tell new expositions of the museum. The red ribbon was cut in a solemn atmosphere by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Terekhov, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Belarus Dmitry Matusevich, Chairman of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee Ivan Krupko and Chairman of the Kalinkovichi District Executive Committee Pavel Silivonchik.

- Thanks to the new address, the exposition area of the museum has doubled. Now viewers can see many of the exhibits that we used to store in storage. For example, a unique encolpion for storing shrines - it dates back to the XI century.
