In Belarus, a draft decree is being discussed, according to which it is planned to introduce mandatory certification for hotels under the star system. This was reported by the head of the certification department of BelGISS services Tatiana Smirnova on the air of the program “Actual interview” on the TV channel “First Information”, writes sb.by.

According to Tatiana Smirnova, the draft decree has passed the approval stage and is in the Government:
- We are waiting for a decision to be made. Based on the experience of Russia, they must pass certification. If the accommodation facility does not meet the required requirements, the certification body issues inconsistencies and what needs to be done to get the category.
The draft decree provides for a phased introduction. It is expected that by January 1, 2028, large hotels with a room stock of more than 70 rooms will be certified, and by January 1, 2029, those with less than 70 rooms will be certified.
- It is assumed that the process will be painless. We have not been preparing for this for the first year, Tatiana Smirnova said.
Of the 600 hotels operating in Belarus, only 90 have received official certificates of compliance with the categories from “no stars” to “five stars”. Of these, five stars have five accommodations, four stars 10, three stars 44, two stars 10, no stars 12. Nine hostels were also certified. You can get acquainted with the official certification of hotels on the website "Quality.bel", where there is a tab "Certified hotels of Belarus". There you can see what category a particular hotel has, how much the certificate is valid, etc.
