About 20 physicians were born within these walls, as was the chief physician. 1st City Hospital Celebrates 95th Anniversary

The solemn evening dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the 1st City Clinical Hospital was held in Minsk on September 18, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

To congratulate the medical workers came Deputy Minister of Health Boris Androsyuk, Chairman of the Committee on Health of the Minsk City Executive Committee Yuri Gorbich and Deputy of the Minsk City Council Natalia Voronova.

A hospital that started with a single office

In 1931 the institution was opened as the first clinical base of the Belarusian State Medical University. Science and practice have been going hand in hand for 95 years.

- It is this connection with the university that largely determined our path, said Olga Esmanchik, chief doctor of the hospital.

It was in the 1st clinical cancer service that the oncology service was born - from one office. Here they were among the first to develop pediatric surgery and pediatric cardiac surgery.

In 2015, the Children’s Surgery Center received the status of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Pediatric Surgery.

First in town, first in the country

According to O. Esmanchik, in 2003 the city center of operating cardiology was opened in the capital, and he also belonged to the 1st clinical hospital.

- We were the first in the city, where we began to perform heart surgery, implant pacemakers, conduct X-ray endovascular interventions, said O. Esmanchik.

Since 2012, the hospital has been operating around the clock.

Clinical diagnostic laboratory serves 19 outpatient clinics from four districts of Minsk. Here is one of the largest centralized laboratories in the city. The endoscopic center helps residents of the Soviet and Pervomaysky districts - it is about 320 thousand people.

A special place is occupied by the city center of extragenital pathology during pregnancy.

- We are the only ones in the city and the first in the country where pregnant women with diseases of the circulatory system, kidneys, diabetes mellitus and other endocrine diseases, as well as women who have suffered or have cancer are observed, the chief doctor said.

The Minsk City Center for Osteoporosis and Diseases of the Musculoskeletal System deserves deep respect. His ancestor and first leader was Professor, MD Emma Rudenko. The hospital also became one of the first in the country, where they began to create interdistrict centers for prenatal and ultrasound diagnostics - there are only two of them in Minsk.

So step by step from a small institution 1st Clinical has grown into a modern multidisciplinary center.

Doctors who were born here

The main wealth of the hospital is people. There are doctors of medical sciences, nine candidates of medical sciences, two associate professors. Four specialists study in clinical residency, three in graduate school.

- My staff, my people are true professionals. Every day they make complex, responsible decisions that help save the lives of our citizens, said O. Esmanchik.

By the way, more than one generation of Belarusians were born in the maternity hospital of the 1st city clinical hospital.

- It is very pleasant when women give birth to us, and then come back and bring their granddaughters.

About 20 employees of the hospital were born in the walls of the medical institution. His head doctor is no exception. Once the midwife Clara Vikentyevna took birth at mother O. Esmanchik.

The path is almost 100 years long

At the anniversary evening, words of gratitude sounded not only from colleagues in the workshop.

The solemn part was opened by the welcoming address on behalf of the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalia Kochanova. It was read out by a member of the Standing Committee of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly for Education, Science, Culture and Social Development, Chief Doctor of the Minsk City Clinical Oncology Center Viktor Kondratovich. There was also a greeting from the Operational and Analytical Center under the President.

Congratulations were expressed by Deputy Minister of Health Boris Androsyuk:

- You are the first hospital, I wish you were the first. Further success, of course, health to you, your loved ones and relatives, keep the brand as long as possible!

The best employees received diplomas of the Ministry of Health.

The awards of the Minsk City Council were presented by Natalia Voronova.

- You have been treating people for about 100 years. This is a path that is very important for the medical community in Minsk and Belarus. 95 years ago, the path that made it possible to come from a health care institution with several buildings to a modern multidisciplinary center, where the mercy, responsibility and wisdom of each of you live. “You have a small reward,” he said.

The congratulations were joined by the Chairman of the Health Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee Yuri Gorbich:

- The first hospital went from the first inpatient health care institution in Minsk to what it is today. This is a multidisciplinary, modern, wonderful hospital, of which the city is rightly proud. But a hospital is not walls. These are the people who work in it. I sincerely want to say thank you to the veterans for making the institution we see today. To those who work today – for the fact that you maintain all the best traditions. And I wish you two things: health, which doctors usually lack, and that you will always be interested in your work. So that when you come here, you feel that you are saving someone's life and that it really depends on your work.

He also presented certificates and gratitude of the Minsk City Executive Committee to the best employees of the hospital.
