The inspector also told the children about the principles of the reflective elements: they reflect the light of the headlights and help the driver see the pedestrian from afar. After that, the children themselves made “flickers” from a special film. Each chose a bright figure, pasted a reflective strip - and a personal security badge. Now it can be attached to a jacket or backpack.
Also, employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Suoyarva District organized a set of preventive measures for students of educational organizations in the villages of Porosozero and Lakhkolampi. The classes were held as part of the large-scale republican action “Pedestrian, light up!” and were aimed at forming the skills of minors of safe behavior on the street and road network.
During the meetings, which were attended by more than 50 schoolchildren, including activists of the YID unit “Young Inspector”, traffic police officers conducted multi-format classes.
So, for junior students, the organizers prepared an interactive quiz. In playful form, the children repeated the algorithm of safe crossing of the roadway, dismantled typical “traps” and fixed the rules of behavior near the roads.
The police conducted preventive conversations with middle and senior schoolchildren. The teenagers were reminded of the strict observance of traffic rules for pedestrians and drivers of personal mobility (SIM), and also explained the rules of administrative responsibility for traffic offences.
Special attention was paid to the popularization of the use of retroreflective elements in the dark and in conditions of insufficient visibility. The inspectors clearly demonstrated how to properly place flickers on clothes and backpacks to become more visible to drivers.
