“He stood on two legs and came at us”: the Kuzbass district twice shot the bears, saving people
The bear got used to eating leftover food and tried to climb into the chicken coop

In Kuzbass, a policewoman twice saved people from bears. About the fearless countrywoman from Novokuznetsk told the official representative of the Ministry of internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk. Stories are one scarier than the other.
It all started with a call to the village of Kuzedeevo. A bear climbed onto the apiary of a local resident: broke the fence, ruined the hive. Senior district officer Natalia Stelmakova arrived at the place. The picture is oil: the owner hides in a farm building, and the clubfoot calmly hosts - breaks apple trees and weaves honey.
“I was hoping we would just drive him away. However, he did not react to the noise, he was busy with honey. He did not want to share, roared, scalded menacingly, stood on two legs, gazed, his eyes shone. I know it's gonna be serious. Then he descended on his front legs, roared and menacingly went to our side, Natalia recalls.
It was counting for seconds. The senior lieutenant grabbed a gun and fired - according to the law "On police". The bear has been defused. Fear came later: Awareness of fear came home, about 1-1.5 hours later, when I sat down to write a report. Then I realized what could have happened. The predator could have covered the distance in seconds and rounded us up.”.
But the story didn't end there. A few days later, the bear got used to going to the garden to pensioners in the village of Kandalep. The owner surrounded the site with barbed wire, put a lantern - but this only works for the beast: the light became more, and the food is still the same. The bear got used to eating leftover food and tried to climb into the chicken coop.
When Natalia arrived, it became clear: the noise does not scare him, the aggression is growing. The lieutenant fired two shots. The predator was neutralized.
We will remind, this year in Kuzbass a real “invasion” of bears – they are increasingly coming to people. The reason, according to the Ministry of Forestry, is a crop failure of pine nuts and forest fires, because of which the animal lacks food in the taiga. Five municipalities in the region are now on high alert. So be careful not to find out the relationship with clubfoot – this is a job for professionals like Natalia Stelmakova.
