Authorities accuse the company of failing to notify law enforcement of threats posted to ChatGPT before the attack. OpenAI is also accused of creating an unsafe product.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal reported that OpenAI a few months before the tragedy blocked the account of the suspect in the attack due to violation of the rules of use of ChatGPT. The company did not contact the Canadian police.
The Tumbler Ridge school shooting occurred on February 10. A teacher and five students aged 13 to 17 were killed. Two more victims — the mother and the half-brother of the suspect — were found in a house nearby. The suspect killed himself.
