“Pay through the exchange”: a new trick scammers on the advertising platforms
A new type of fraud is flourishing in Russia

Are you selling something on Avito or Yule? Be careful: the scammers have come up with a new scheme. Now they offer to pay for the goods through cryptocurrency exchanges. This was warned in the UBC of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
How does it work? The “Buyer” writes to the seller and offers to make payment through a third-party exchange service. To gain trust, he can send screenshots of translations, documents, anything. Then he says, "The money has been sent, but to get it, you have to pay a commission or make an additional payment." The seller pays and is left with nothing: no goods, no money.
The Interior Ministry advises how not to get caught:
do not accept payment through dubious exchanges;
do not follow the links that the buyer sends;
do not transfer money to “confirm” or “unblock” the payment;
do not believe screenshots – they are easy to fake;
check the receipt of funds only in the application of your bank.
Kuzbassians also actively sell things online, so these tips will not be superfluous. If the buyer insists on a strange payment scheme, it is better to refuse. The real money comes in the account, not in the form of pictures.
