The customs authorities of Belarus are doing everything necessary to ensure security. Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky said this in the evening broadcast of the TV channel “Belarus 1” in the program “Conversation with the President”, writes sb.by.

Vladimir Orlovsky divided law enforcement activities of customs authorities into two conditional areas: economic security and security of citizens
- Every year, the tricks of violating customs legislation associated with non-payment of payments, understating payments, are becoming more sophisticated. We try to keep up and improve our technology. Let me give you a few figures: this year, for 8 months, we stopped the import of goods into the country in violation of the law for 220 million rubles. That's a pretty big sum. If these goods were not received legally, payments would not be received into the budget.
Speaking about the safety of citizens, the Chairman of the State Customs Committee stressed that the Head of State paid special attention to this.
- It is important that no Belarusian is injured in our country. This is the whole range of our capabilities. The car from the cargo flow is not just sent for control, inspection, scanning - we have a whole system: software products, analysts, which highlight particularly risky cars and cargo that are sent for additional control. I want to point out that this gives results. In addition, the law enforcement unit uses all the possibilities of operational-search activities, conducts operational-search measures aimed at preventing the import of prohibited substances into the country. It also produces results. Over 8 months, customs detected more than 2 tons of drugs and psychotropics that were imported into the country. Some of them are transit drugs. But again, we are protecting not only our country, but also the Eurasian Union. I would also like to draw your attention to the fact that this year we have already identified several cases when our citizens when crossing the border take some things for transfer to friends or even strangers across the border, perhaps for a small fee.
Vladimir Orlovsky clarified:
- The bodies of the customs committee identified five cases when household appliances, personal belongings were 2-3 kilograms of drugs. And of course, although a person is used in the dark, but still he is involved in this bad process. It is important to remember the relevant consequences. Therefore, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that in no case should you take things for transfer across the border to other citizens, because you can get into bad situations.
