Pedagogical universities have defined a development strategy for the next five years

A project-strategic session is being held in Moscow, bringing together teams of all 36 pedagogical universities subordinated to the Ministry of Education of Russia.

Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov recalled that an important stage of infrastructure changes has been passed in the five years since the transition of teachers to the department. Now, according to him, the task is to determine the directions of work for the next five years.

It is planned to assess the work of universities on the employment of graduates, their methodological support and the consolidation of young teachers in schools. Among the possible indicators are also interaction with the regions, scientific research, student and pedagogical exchanges, the share of graduates of teaching classes choosing pedagogical directions.

The momentum is already visible. According to Deputy Minister of Education Olga Koludarova, in 2025, 54% of graduates of pedagogical universities were employed in the specialty against 47% in 2019. The number of budget places increased from 27 thousand in 2019 to 38 thousand in 2026, and the average score of the exam received on the budget — from 69 to 74.

The next goal of the department is that more and more graduates choose not only pedagogical education, but also work in school. The strategic session will end on October 29.
