One of the common reasons for parting with an old smartphone is a fast-setting battery. Over time, the battery loses capacity due to charging cycles, temperature changes and operating features. If it’s just a battery, replacing it will cost significantly less than a new phone. Modern devices support optimized charging, which allows you to temporarily stop the process at about 80%.

Slowdown of the smartphone is sometimes associated with a lack of free memory. When the drive is almost full, you should delete unnecessary applications and files, and transfer photos and videos to another media or to the cloud. However, a large amount of data in itself does not necessarily affect the performance of the device.

Separately, the expert focused on operating system updates that contain security and optimization fixes. If the manufacturer has stopped software support for the model, it is necessary to take into account possible risks. Installing unofficial firmware for the sake of new features can also add problems. However, some features, including eSIM on individual Android smartphones, can be added using a special module after checking compatibility.

The length of service of the phone depends on the conditions of use. Overheating, direct sunlight, moisture and falls accelerate the wear of the device. Kashnitskaya believes that buying a new smartphone is justified if the old one regularly fails, ceases to receive the necessary updates or does not cope with everyday tasks. Replacement can also be more profitable than repair, when you need to restore several expensive components at once.
