The press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia told TASS that changing the signature in the passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation is not the basis for its replacement, but may make it difficult to confirm the authenticity of the signature.
According to paragraph 22 of the Regulations on the passport, the change or transformation of the signature of the owner is not included in the list of grounds for replacing the document. The signature in the passport serves to identify the person, and its modification may make it impossible to confirm the authenticity of the document.
Paragraph 31 of the Regulations establishes that upon obtaining a passport, a citizen signs an application for issuance or replacement with a pen with black or blue ink. To confirm the data and identify the identity, as well as to use the passport, the citizen also puts his signature with these ink on the second page of the document.
It is important that the signature in the application and passport is graphically accurate. If a passport is received by a legal representative of an incapacitated citizen or the citizen himself physically cannot put a signature, a dashboard is put instead.
