The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia in the Penza region warns of cases of telephone fraud and urges residents of the region to be vigilant.
Every day, law enforcement agencies receive appeals from citizens affected by fraud. Attackers use modern technology to replace phone numbers: the screen displays a number that does not correspond to the real source of the call. They can impersonate representatives of various law enforcement agencies.
It should be remembered that those who offer to transfer money to accounts, report confidential bank card data, install applications or visit suspicious sites are not employees of the Investigative Committee of Russia or other official bodies. Such actions are not authorized by law and are fraudulent.
If you are called and introduced as a law enforcement officer, and then offered to conduct financial transactions, it is better to stop the conversation. Do not disclose your personal data, bank card and account numbers, PIN codes and do not transfer funds.
To verify information, you can contact the phones listed on the official websites of law enforcement agencies and banks. You can also call the investigatory officer at 8(8412)63-64-96, who works around the clock.
Employees of the Investigative Committee, the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Regardie and other agencies never require transferring money to any accounts by phone or in person. This is a clear sign of fraud.
Recently, cases have become more frequent when attackers impersonate employees of mobile operators, MFCs and the portal “State Services” to obtain personal data and passwords. Do not provide this information if you are called by unknown persons and asked for it allegedly to renew the contract or confirm the account.
