Feather and axe. V championship on wood chopping among media employees was held on the banks of Vyachy

The fifth firewood picking championship among media representatives was held on the banks of the Vyach reservoir near Minsk on November 8, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti news agency reports.

To determine the best in the ability to handle the axe, 37 teams from all over Belarus came to the championship.

The press secretary of the Head of State Natalia Eismont welcomed the participants of the competition:

- It is a pleasure to meet you in this beautiful place, on the shore of our picturesque pond, for the fifth time. Thank you for supporting the trend set by the President.

The audience was shown a video about how President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in his small homeland together with his team cut firewood.

In the final part of the video, Alexander Lukashenko signed an autograph on the axe.

- I give my axe to the worker. Hey, reporters. Hello to the journalists! They're good! This is solely in their honor, the Head of State said.

Therefore, the main prize for the winner of the V championship on wood picking is the axe of Belarusian production, with which the President cut firewood and his working gloves.

- There is a special atmosphere here – the unity of the media community from all over the country, said Vladimir Pertsov, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Belarus. - A pick of firewood is a very interesting activity. On the one hand, it's like a sport. On the other hand, a useful skill that can be useful. And, of course, the competitive spirit! Therefore, we try to preserve this tradition.

Among the participants of the championship are directly media employees (both managers and creative and technical employees), bloggers, representatives of press services of departments. According to tradition, from 4 to 7 participants can be applied to each team. But there are two prerequisites. First, there must be the head of the media or his deputy. Secondly, at least two men and two women should appear on the list.

- We always think about what more new can be brought to this exclusive championship, said Alexei Kushnarenko, Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, addressing the participants of the championship. And came to the conclusion that a recognizable talisman is needed. They chose a beaver. It represents hard work and natural wisdom.

The main judge of the championship was the Minister of Forestry Sergey Uldinovich.

- This is the fifth time we are going to this autumn on the shores of Lake Vyacha. Here we watch, worry, get sick, compete. Today, more than one sports competition at the level of departments includes such a discipline as wood picking, Uldinovich said.

Traditionally, the organizers of the championship prepared an extensive program of competitions. Among the disciplines are cutting logs with an axe, picking firewood in Presidential style, team relay, competitions “One blow!” and “Test for strength”, as well as an exercise in picking firewood.

The team of the Minsk-Novosti agency also participates in the competitions.

- Following the results of the last championship, we put forward a proposal to make an addition to the discipline “Presidential Ring of Firewood”, and the chief judge granted our petition, said Denis Kulaga, photo correspondent of the Minsk-News agency. Now the shoe should be split into at least six parts. This complicates discipline, but at the same time eliminates possible discrepancies. Discipline isn't easy. It is necessary to clearly, accurately break the shoe. The difficulty is that you can aim at one place, in fact get a little into another and, based on this, change tactics on the move. This is my third championship, but the first for the team of the Minsk-Novosti agency. For me, this competition is a challenge to myself to become better. For example, if in 2024 it took me 4 minutes 50 seconds, now it is 3 minutes 6 seconds, and this is taking into account the penalty time.

- Last year's competitions I missed, but in 2024 participated with pleasure, - said the participant of the V championship from the TV and radio company "Vitebsk" Alexey Trubin. Such a competition is primarily a unity of people who are connected by the profession and our country. And, of course, these are positive emotions, regardless of the result at the finish line. I'm on the baton myself. It consists of several stages, including cutting and cutting logs, driving a nail, lighting a fire.

Another tradition of the championship is that it confirms the status of a family holiday. Their strength and dexterity were able to test the audience. For them prepared competitions for cutting logs "In the eye" and tugging sleds with firewood. Also for guests arranged photo zones, interactive platforms. There is a tasting of products of the Minsk region, there is a food court with various treats. And for the participants and guests of the festival, the ensembles “Castle Mountain” and “Quint” performed from the stage.
