The first step in a career – at university: BSUIR students met with potential employers
Find a place for industrial practice, get acquainted with a potential employer and look after the company in advance for the future.

Find a place for industrial practice, get acquainted with a potential employer and look after the company in advance for future distribution - such opportunities were given to BSUIR students at the Job Fair "Study and Work" on September 17, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
16 organizations and departments presented their proposals, including ASB Belarusbank, Belagroprombank, BelVEB, Belinvestbank, Horizon, MTS, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, etc.
For BSUIR students, such meetings are especially relevant in senior courses. Third-year students will have production practice, and fourth-year students will have distribution. Therefore, getting acquainted with the employer while studying can be the first step to the future place of work.

The job fair is primarily aimed at the future of our students so that they find their jobs. This is especially true for the fourth year: in December, the children are distributed, so now is actually the last chance to find a worthy place exactly where the student would like to work, said Pavel Kamlach, Executive Secretary of the BSUIR Admissions Committee.

According to the representative of the university, today students are increasingly beginning their professional path even before receiving a diploma.
- The first and second year is usually the time when the student is most immersed in their studies. And in senior courses, there is already an opportunity to try yourself in the profession. If the students cope with the teaching load, the university meets them. By the decision of the dean’s office, in some cases, it may be possible to study part of the lecture material independently, Kamlach explained.

According to the secretary of the admissions committee, about half of the students of the third and fourth years already have a job in their future professional direction or have decided where they would like to work after graduation.

Not just IT
BSUIR is traditionally associated primarily with the training of IT specialists. However, the university also produces engineers who work with electronics, circuitry, hardware systems and other complex equipment.

- Our specialties can be divided into IT-directions and engineering. The fair presents companies that need software engineers, system engineers, specialists in electronics and circuit engineering. There are employers who are interested in specialists who are able to work with the hardware, develop circuits, engage in electronics, Kamlach said.
According to him, both public and private organizations show interest in engineering personnel.

- Every year the demand for engineering specialties is increasing. We need to develop our own electronics industry, so enterprises need specialists who can not only work with software, but also develop real technical solutions. And we see that the need for such personnel is constantly growing, the representative of BSUIR added.

Find each other
For employers, participation in the fair is an opportunity not just to place a vacancy, but to personally meet potential employees. Representatives of companies can tell students about their activities, working conditions and career opportunities, and young people themselves can ask questions and understand how a particular direction suits them.

- For us, employers, it is also an opportunity to understand which guys are interested in working in our field. You can immediately communicate, answer questions, discuss opportunities for practice, internship and further employment. This is a more lively format than just posting an announcement and waiting for feedback, said Anna Selezneva, a representative of one of the Belarusian banks.

Special attention was paid to the attitude of modern youth to professional development.
- Young people today want to understand perspective. It is important for them not only to find their first job, but also to know what they can learn, what tasks they will perform, how they will be able to grow professionally. Therefore, such meetings are also useful because they help students make a choice more consciously. And for the employer, this is an opportunity to see initiative children who are already thinking about their career during their studies, Selezneva added.

One of the students for whom the question of future employment is already becoming relevant, third-year student of BSUIR Daria Kuzmich. At the fair, the girl came with a specific purpose - to look at the proposals of employers and find a company with which in the future you can connect your professional future.

- I am starting to think about employment. Of course, there is still time before graduation, but now I want to understand where and what I will do after graduation. So I was interested to see what companies were represented at the fair, what specialists they needed and what they offered to students. I liked several proposals, and now I want to study them in more detail, shared D. Kuzmich.
