St. Petersburg scientists will accelerate the selection of antibiotics for patients
In St. Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI" create a device for the rapid diagnosis of antibiotic resistance (ADB). This was reported by the press service of the university. The new development will allow you to obtain the results of a blood test for resistance of bacteria to antibiotics in 15 minutes. This will reduce the time for diagnosis, which is now more than a day.

For patients with a bacterial infection, timely administration of antibiotics significantly increases the chances of recovery. But even the most modern laboratory methods of analysis for antibiotic resistance, determining which drugs bacteria are resistant to, take a long time.
The prototype device works in tandem with a microfluidic chip that prepares a sample and makes it possible to analyze even small amounts of it. Also, developers create a prototype in a portable case and software for data processing.
The plans for this year include a working prototype and an application for the rights to the result of intellectual activity, then certification as a medical device.
