Petersburgers warned about the hidden threat of old boxes for allergy sufferers

Home appliances have long been unpacked, and cardboard boxes from them often dust for years on balconies or mezzanine "just in case." However, general practitioner Denis Prokofiev warned that such a habit can turn into serious health problems, provoking asthma or severe allergies. This writes argumenti.ru.
According to the doctor, cardboard has a porous structure, because of which it easily absorbs moisture and accumulates dust. This environment becomes an ideal incubator for the development of fungus. Mold spores, getting into the respiratory tract, cause an allergic runny nose, sinusitis or conjunctivitis.
Prokofiev warned that printing paint could release toxic substances. He also noted that mold on cardboard can cause allergic reactions, including bronchial asthma.
The words of the specialist are also confirmed by scientific research. Back in 2017, Italian scientists using an electron microscope proved that dust and microorganisms get stuck in the fibers of such containers. If most bacteria die there, the mold at the slightest dampness grows perfectly inside.
