On October 28, a memorandum of intent was signed in Beijing to develop friendly exchanges and cooperation between the Petrograd district of St. Petersburg and the Chinese district of Changping. This was reported by the head of the administration of the Petrograd district Dmitry Vanchkov.
The document was signed with the support of the Committee on external relations of St. Petersburg. It should become a basis for long-term cooperation between the two regions.
During the meeting, the parties discussed joint projects in the field of history, culture and literature of Russia and China. Special attention was paid to youth policy, sports and social work.
“It is important for us that the memorandum does not remain only a document on paper. It should be followed by concrete initiatives, joint events and new opportunities for residents, primarily for young people, Vanchkov said.
The head of the administration also noted the symbolism of the event, recalling that it was from the Petrograd district that the history of St. Petersburg began. He expressed hope that cooperation with Chanping will bring practical results.
