A pilot project to increase the available capacity for EZS without reconstruction of the electric grid infrastructure was implemented in the Vitebsk region. This was stated by Pavel Kabanov, Director of the Training Center branch of RUE Vitebskenergo, at the VIII Scientific and Practical Conference “Electric Transport: Reality and Prospects” at the Belarusian Energy and Environmental Forum, BelTA reports.

One of the problems of the electric charging network development is a constant reserve of power, which may be lacking. However, the load on transformer substations during the day is not constant.
The essence of the project is not to increase the installed capacity, but to provide EZS with temporarily free power and automatically limit charging when the load of other consumers increases.
The pilot facility is located in Shumilino. In September-October 2026, charging tests were carried out here.
“Technical solutions are working. We, in fact, get a tool that allows us to develop charging infrastructure through more efficient use of the existing network, and not through its build-up, said Pavel Kabanov.
Vitebskenergo plans to further scale the project. This experience interested participants of the Belarusian Energy and Environmental Forum. Virtual reality complex of the Training Center "Vitebsknergo" will help BNTU to prepare power engineers
