The area of open burning at the MSW landfill in Naryan-Mar is reduced

In Naryan-Mar, the elimination of fire at the landfill of solid household waste continues. In the morning, the situation on the spot was assessed by the Deputy Governor of the NAO, supervising the Department of Public Security, Sergey Mikhailov.

- Extinguishing is carried out around the clock. According to experts, it is possible to localize and extinguish about 100-150 square meters of territory every day, Mikhailov said.

Firefighters expect the open fire to be eliminated by Friday. However, after that, it will take at least a week to spill the territory - to prevent re-ignition.

Recall that the fire at the MSW landfill in Naryan-Mar began a few days ago. Due to the peculiarities of debris smoldering in landfills, extinguishing is complicated: it is required not only to extinguish the hearths, but also to carefully shed deep layers of waste. Authorities and emergency services are keeping the situation under control.

Today, air sampling for laboratory tests will begin in Naryan-Mar.
