In Novosibirsk will start to run a giant trolleybus for 145 passengers

The novelty is assembled at the Ufa tram and trolleybus plant (UTTZ) on the basis of the extended body MAZ-216. The main features of low-floor transport are increased passenger capacity (up to 145 people) and an impressive reserve of increased autonomous driving. The trolleybus is able to move without connecting to the contact network for about 40 kilometers.
The test period is necessary for municipal services to comprehensively assess the new model in real road and weather conditions in Siberia.
“During this time, we plan to assess how convenient and reliable the equipment is in the conditions of Novosibirsk: specialists will check the operation of heating systems, the convenience of the cabin for passengers, including for people with limited mobility, as well as the ease of maintenance and repair,” the mayor said.
By the end of 2022, the depreciation of the urban trolleybus fleet reached a critical 98.5%. Since then, the authorities have begun a large-scale renewal of rolling stock. The basis of the renovated park was the standard model "Civilian" (also a joint development of UTTZ and the Minsk Automobile Plant). In total, under various contracts, the city has 258 units of this equipment.
If the current tests of the spacious “accordance” on the basis of MAZ-216 are successful, the municipality will consider the possibility of purchasing such machines to unload the busiest main directions of the city.
