The final of the VII Republican contest "Family of the Year" was held on October 10 in the capital's Palace of Sports, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.
“Family of the Year” is not just a contest, it is a story that every region of the country supports.
- There is nothing more important than family in life, said Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Natalia Petkevich. There is no music that compares to children’s laughter. There is no company that would replace a meeting with parents. You set an example for everyone to prioritize, because the most important thing is family.
Petkevich read a welcome address from the Prime Minister of Belarus Alexander Turchin.
"Family of the Year" was a bright and large-scale event reflecting the main values of the Belarusian people - family, love for children, respect for parents, preservation of traditions and memory of ancestors. Your example inspires young people to choose the right trajectory of successful life, because a large family is a great happiness, and children are the main wealth in life.
A warm greeting to the participants and guests of the VII Republican contest “Family of the Year” was sent by the Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalia Kochanova. She emphasized that raising children is a daily parental feat, and the support of motherhood and childhood invariably remains an unconditional priority of state policy.
- A large family in Belarus is a subject of special pride, an unshakable support of society and a living continuity of generations, Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic Igor Brilevich read out the welcoming address.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeenko also sent greetings.
- Being a big and friendly family is a daily job and a colossal responsibility, but at the same time joy and the main source of inspiration, said Irina Kostevich, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs of the House of Representatives. It is in the family that the true formula of happiness lies.
Minister of Labor and Social Protection Andrei Lobovich noted that more than 630 families took part in the qualifying stages of the competition.
- This suggests that a large family is friendly and happy, Lobovich said. Support for families with children is a priority of state policy and includes a large-scale package of measures - from payments and benefits to benefits in the field of housing, labor and tax legislation. The Family of the Year contest proves this and is held to strengthen the prestige of the institution of the family and traditional values.
Seven large families participated in the competition - winners of the regional and Minsk city stages. In particular, the Brest region was represented by the Sviridyuk family, Vitebsk - by the Mezhuev family, Gomel - by the Perzhenitsa family, Grodno - by the Lyakh family. The honor of the Mogilev region was defended by the Baranov family, Minsk – by the Sobalevsky family. The Belsky family spoke from the Belarusian capital.
It is noteworthy that most large families raise four children. In the families of Sviridyuk and Baranov, three heirs grow up, and the most numerous in composition was the Perzhenitsa family - six children.
There were 14 moms and dads and 28 daughters and sons on stage. The youngest participant, Misha Belsky, is only 3 years old.
For the first time, the competition was held in television format. In video cards, the families presented the creative project “Family: formula of happiness”, revealing the way of life, traditions and hobbies, and then answered the questions of the presenters live. The organizers prepared exciting tasks for the participants: dads selected an image for their mothers to leave. Moms, driving a mini-car, demonstrated how easily they cope with everyday affairs. And the children collected from the letters words reflecting the main qualities of the family.
The second stage is the presentation of social projects dedicated to the Year of the Belarusian Woman.
The winner of the competition was the Sviridyuk family from the Brest region.
