Why November 4th is a real holiday
Well, finally! It's done! I don’t know what happened to me, but this time I started to feel the 4th of November really like the red day of the calendar

This happened in 2005, when it was decided to celebrate November 4 as a national celebration. But then it seemed to me that it was done artificially, deliberately. Yes, he paid tribute to the Kremlin PR people: everything seems to be in your mind, here you and the day of the Kazan Mother of God, and the end of the Troubles, when they drove the Poles from the Kremlin under the skillful leadership of the merchant Minin and Prince Pozharsky. Yes, an example to follow, when in a difficult year that threatened the collapse of the Russian state, people united, becoming a people in the highest sense of the word, understanding. So a miracle happened.
But I still didn't believe in the sincerity of what was happening here and now. I thought that the government’s goal was to postpone the holiday from November 7, thereby depriving it of Communists, and so that they at least did not go out on that day. After all, the Communists were still in force, they were the real opposition.
You know, in Soviet times, the day of November 7, I did not particularly celebrate. And the weather is so snowy, it's cold. Well, I watched the parade on TV, that's all. Other films were good about the revolution, “Lenin in October”, for example, or “Deputy of the Baltic”. But when the Union collapsed, for some reason this holiday became dear to me. Nostalgia, what do you want? And in spite of everything, I began to celebrate it.
Under Yeltsin, November 7 did not disappear, it was simply made the Day of Accord and Reconciliation. Very wise, I think, wonderful. Well, the 4th... People have a reflex - November 7 is worth a drink, a good reason. So we decided not to go far, because offending the people in this sense is simply sinful.
On November 4th, I thought it was a day off. Well, thank you for that.
But now, 21 years after the announcement of this holiday, something happened to me. The day before, I began to prepare, to anticipate. I even imagined myself participating in the liberation of the Kremlin from the Polish invaders. Well, miracle. Why is that? Look, I probably watch Vladimir Medinsky's programs too much. Although Medina doesn't happen much, yes. He now not only tells about Russian history on “Culture”, but also on “Russia 1”. I watch everything, I try not to miss it.
Well, I like him in that capacity. After all, he was always scolded: this, they say, embellishes historical Russia. Refuts its disadvantages, crossing out, getting some pluses.
Look, I just don't see it on TV. Excellent Russian language, love for the native history, knowledge of it and, in general, objectivity of presentation - that's what I see, that's why I look. I think Medina is very good here. So now he talks about the history of the Russian state, starting from its very origin, and has already reached the Time of Troubles. It comes out incendiary, modern, with the transition even today. These are the associations.
Well, the client is ripe, has reached condition. He counted me, too. So I was exposed to propaganda after all? But in this case, again, I'm happy about it. You have to feel the story, understand it. I guess I understood and felt now. And thank God.
