Why ARVI clings even after recovery, explained the doctor
Many notice: barely recovered from a cold - and again the temperature, cough, runny nose.

As explained by Associate Professor of General Medical Practice with a course of geriatrics and palliative medicine BSMU, Candidate of Medical Sciences Natalia Klimovich, frequent morbidity in the season of SARS and influenza is associated with a large variety of respiratory pathogens - because of this, some people suffer infections repeatedly, BelTA reports.
Why people get SARS several times a season: explains the doctor
Clinician Natalia Klimovich notes that in her practice there are regularly patients who complain of constant colds: barely recovering from the disease, they again face symptoms, and such a cycle seems to them endless. The reason is a huge variety of viral strains. Rhinovirus alone has more than 150 variants. Immunity, which is formed after an infection, protects only against a particular strain, while others continue to circulate and can cause a new episode of the disease.

When to expect an increase in the incidence and how to reduce the risks
According to Natalia Klimovich, the seasonal increase in the incidence of acute respiratory infections actually begins in September and persists until mid-spring. To protect yourself from some pathogens helps vaccination against influenza, but no less important is the culture of human behavior.
Contact with the patient is likely to lead to the transmission of the virus, but the development of the disease depends on the dose of the viral load. The doctor emphasizes that in order to prevent complications and not infect others, when symptoms appear, you can not attend work, mass events and organized groups - the body needs time to cope with the infection.
Simple and effective prevention measures
A key part of prevention is habits that do not require much expense. First of all, hand washing: after returning from the street or from a public place, it is one of the most economical and effective protection measures.
Epidemiological situation in Belarus and forecasts for the season 2026-2027
Currently, the epidemiological situation in Belarus is assessed as stable and consistent with seasonal indicators. In the circulation are non-influenza respiratory viruses - in particular, parainfluenza viruses, rhinoviruses, bocaviruses, adenoviruses and others.
The increase in the incidence is forecasted for the traditional period for the country - late January - early February 2027. Simultaneous circulation of non-influenza respiratory viruses, influenza viruses and SARS-CoV-2 is expected.
Experts suggest that the activity of influenza A(H3N2) strain in the upcoming epidemic season will be reduced, and the main circulating variant is likely to be influenza A(H1N1) virus. Influenza B virus usually joins the circulation towards the end of the season – in late winter or spring – and can trigger a second rise in the incidence.
Vaccination: updated composition for the season 2026-2027
In accordance with WHO recommendations, the strain composition of influenza vaccines for the season 2026-2027 is fully updated for all three strains.
