With the arrival of cold weather, the owners of private houses in the suburbs face the threat of failure of the water supply: pipes and meters can freeze and require expensive repairs. The most vulnerable areas in unheated basements and on the border of the site.
The Ministry of housing and communal services of the Moscow region recommended in advance to prepare communications for frosts. Pipes should be insulated with moisture-resistant materials, and the counter installed in a cold room should be closed with a thermal cover or a special box. It is also necessary to check the shut-off cranes, the tightness of the well cover and the insulation of its walls.
Those who plan to leave for a long time are advised to block the water and drain it from pipes, taps, faucets and a toilet bowl. If there is a drainage crane on the input, after turning off the main valve it must be opened - so the remaining water is removed to the meter.
For advice on the operation of water supply, residents can contact the water utility of their district.
