At the airport of Nizhny Novgorod, the introduction of a biometric system for boarding passengers is planned until the end of 2026. This was told in the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, referring to Deputy Minister Vladimir Poteshkin.
In June 2026, Nizhny Novgorod airport filed a request with the Russian government for admission to the biometric experiment, as previously reported. The launch of the pilot phase was supposed to be carried out as part of flights of one of the Russian airlines.
Since August, for trips by train, following from Nizhny Novgorod to Kirov and Ivanovo, it became possible to issue travel documents using biometric information.
