In Perm and Yekaterinburg, law enforcement authorities detained 11 people suspected of stealing things from public transport passengers. They were identified after a mass brawl in the capital of the Sverdlovsk region, which occurred due to an unsuccessful theft. This was reported in the investigative Department of the IC of Russia in the region.
Earlier, media reported that on October 6, on Sverdlov Street in Yekaterinburg, members of the alleged criminal group staged a fight with tram passengers and people at a stop. The reason was an unsuccessful attempt to steal the phone from the girl.
According to the investigation, 11 people have been identified and detained – six men and five women registered in different regions of the Russian Federation. All of them, as the investigation believes, were in the Sverdlovsk region for the purpose of committing property crimes. The exposure of the group began with the investigation of criminal cases under part 2 of article 213 of the criminal code (hooliganism), initiated on the facts of gross violation of public order with the use of violence against citizens.
The department added that only on October 6, members of the group committed about 13 thefts. Similar crimes are believed to have been committed last year. Suspects of participation in a criminal group were detained in Perm, where investigative actions are conducted with them. Law enforcement officers are looking for victims of the actions of intruders.
As explained by the head of the press service of the MIA in the Sverdlovsk region Valery Gorelykh, in Perm part of the group tried to hide from law enforcement officers. Among the detainees are six men and five women, two of whom are pregnant. According to Gorelykh, during rush hour, women, regardless of pregnancy, went into public transport, created a stampede and under its cover stole wallets and phones. If the victims immediately noticed the disappearance, the men from the group provided “forceful support”, allowing the women to escape.
