In the memorial complex "Brest Fortress-Hero" a ceremony of initiation into the profession of young specialists who since August work in health care institutions of Brest and Brest district was held. The solemn event became for them an important stage of professional development and a symbolic confirmation of the chosen path. Parting words were voiced, emphasizing the importance of the first months of work, the need for professional support and the role of mentoring.

The health care system of Brest and Brest district is a large living organism, which today has been replenished by more than two hundred young specialists. And it is especially important to see that children’s eyes are burning, that they are interested, that they see the prospects for the development of domestic medicine and want to work here, developing our healthcare system. There are many opportunities for professional realization in our country. It is important for us that the initiation into the profession becomes a significant moment for young colleagues, which they will remember for a long time. I stood here 17 years ago and received my first professional assignment. Life moves very quickly, but such milestones remain in memory: the first office, the first mentor, the first workplace, the first patient. And the dedication to a profession in such a place as the Brest Fortress is an event that is truly memorable, he said.

Veronika Klimik, a graduate of Brest State Medical College, shared her impressions about work and choice of profession:
- In our profession, the most important thing is to remain calm. It helps in difficult situations. I chose medicine because I love helping people, it was my childhood dream. The first day of work was very exciting, not even holding back tears. The most difficult thing for me is working with young children: when they cry during injections or blood donation, they are always very sorry. The best part is that patients are grateful. These words of support give strength and confirm that I have chosen the right path.

Mikhail Oyarchuk came to Brest after studying at Grodno State Medical University and today works at the Brest Central City Hospital. He talked about the choice of profession and what the work of anesthesiologist-resuscitator means to him:
- I was transferred to the Brest Central City Hospital, before that I had an internship in the same institution. Medicine has fascinated me since childhood: I wanted to help people, understand how the body works and how this complex mechanism works. The work of an anesthesiologist-resuscitator is associated with high responsibility: we participate in operations, face severe cases, work with patients who are on the verge of life and death. Our task is to ensure that a person does not feel pain, that his condition remains stable, that he comes out of a critical situation. Almost every day, we make decisions that help ease the patient’s condition and give him a chance to recover. The most important thing in the profession is not to remain indifferent and do everything possible for a person.
