President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko takes part in the summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The event at the highest level is held on the territory of the national tourist zone of Turkmenistan "Avaza", the correspondent of the agency "Minsk-Novosti".

The official part of the summit began with a ceremony of welcoming the heads of delegations. The Belarusian leader was welcomed by his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdimuhamedov, with whom Alexander Lukashenko held a bilateral meeting before the meeting.
The leaders of the countries will discuss cooperation within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which turns 35 this year. In his speech at the meeting, Alexander Lukashenko will express the position of the Belarusian side on topical topics of the CIS activities, as well as on the potential and future prospects of this international association.
President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkin will also take part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State in a wide format, in addition to the leaders of the CIS countries, at the invitation of the Turkmen side.
In total, there are more than a dozen issues on the agenda of the meeting. They concern social development and quality of life, transport connectivity of the CIS, joint work in the information space, cooperation in law enforcement, preservation of historical memory.
The President of Belarus took part in an official reception on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan in honor of the heads of delegations.
