The unity of the Belarusian people is equal to the independence of the state. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko in his speech at the Youth Forum. Belarus. The future, dedicated to the Day of National Unity, reports the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency.
- It is an element and an indicator of our independence. Unity is our independence, Alexander Lukashenko said.
The President philosophically assessed the pros and cons of the geopolitical position of Belarus.
- You have probably heard that Belarus is on an important direction in Eurasia. Both geographical and geopolitical, the Head of State noted.
According to him, it is considered to be the greatest benefit for the Belarusian people.
- I guess so. If you have a head on your shoulders and manage it wisely, it will probably be a great benefit. But what does history teach us? It teaches the main philosophical conclusion: there should never be a one-sided understanding of the process. There is something positive, necessarily negative on the other side. Looking back in history, we have lost a lot of Belarusians and residents of this piece of land from this advantageous position, the Belarusian leader said.
In his speech, the President also stressed that Belarus has no territorial claims, but will not cede its land to anyone.
“The formula, while I am in power, one: we do not need someone else, but we will not give up our own,” he said.
The head of state noted that he was sincerely glad to see the participants and guests of the forum - young, bright, full of energy.
- You are the main protagonists of our event and the holiday in general. And it is with you that I would like to talk about the most important date in our history, Alexander Lukashenko addressed them.
According to the President, the date of September 17, 1939 was a truly fateful event.
- We celebrate National Unity Day. The day of the reunification of the Belarusian people, the day of the return of millions of Belarusians to their family, to their homeland. A truly fateful event. September 17 is a special holiday. First of all for you - young, active, involved in the public life of the country. And this is an opportunity to talk about the future, which is built on lessons and experience, on the foundations of the past. Talk about your future, Alexander Lukashenko said. - There are no random people here. Most likely people with certain ambitions, certain goals that have already shown themselves in this life.
- We have a land of opportunity. Quiet, calm, no war, thank God. You have to keep it all in the future. Don't make it worse, he added. Get ready to take on this heavy burden and be responsible for the future of our country.
